This role is based in Denver Metro Area (Colorado) and/or Phoenix Metro Area (Arizona). You will help us move our functional mushroom appliance prototypes to the next stage of development—refining product design, engineering, and manufacturability. Our focus is on Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM), as we work towards determining COGS for our next-gen product, which involves multiple dies and diverse manufacturing methods.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a small, cross-functional team to enhance product design and engineering
- Provide expert input on Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Contribute to product development, CAD, 3D modeling, and prototyping
- Assist in refining manufacturing processes and material selection
- Help identify opportunities for cost optimization and scalability
Team Collaboration
- Kick-Off Event: 3 hours (November or December) in Denver and/or Arizona
- Weekly Sprints: 7x 1-week sprints, meeting Saturdays at 9am MST (max 2 hours)
- Optional Midweek Check-In: Wednesdays at 9pm MST (max 1 hour)
- Wrap-Up Event: 2 hours in Denver and/or Arizona
Time Commitment
- 5 hours per week max
- This is a flat bid contract with flexible work hours
- Contractors will be selected based on their skill set and team compatibility
We’re aiming for efficiency—one breakthrough idea that takes 30 minutes is just as valuable as a longer solution. We’re looking for a dynamic and results-oriented team that thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in product design, industrial design, or mechanical engineering
- Strong background in Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)

- Knowledge of start-up costs, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience or interest in mycology (mushroom cultivation)
- Familiarity with alternative/psychedelic drugs and/or CO Prop 122 (Colorado law)
